TEVIOT, the Edinburgh-based brand and marketing consultancy, has launched Firestarter – a year-long paid internship for a student at Edinburgh College’s Visual Communication HND course.

The HND Visual Communication in Graphic Design is an award-winning, studio-driven course with an exciting blend of employer engagement, industry collaboration and contemporary design projects.

The course has a strong reputation for producing industry-ready graduates who can think and execute design solutions across the range of print and digital formats.

The successful graduate will join the company in August 2017 for at least 12 months, and shall learn from some of the most experienced people in this field.

The internship will provide graduates with a supportive environment that fuels their creativity and gives them a solid grounding in commercial design.

Teviot has been involved in a mentoring programme with Edinburgh College over the past two years, led by senior designer, Kirsten Murray, a former student of the course.

Teviot is now an official partner of Edinburgh College and the internship scheme builds upon this relationship.

Kirsten Murray says: “Mentoring is a powerful tool in career development – whether you’re a student or the creative director.

“So, to help give the students the best start to their career, we’ve launched Firestarter – a year-long paid internship programme.

“To build on our close ties with Edinburgh College, the opportunity is being exclusively to their students, helping to assist the next generation of talented designers to stay in Scotland and boost the industry here.”

Over the next six weeks, students involved in the mentoring programme will be tasked to develop the brand identity for the programme which will be launched across Teviot’s social media channels.

The work produced can be followed on the Firestarter page at

Ed Vickers, senior agency director says: “Since we started mentoring at Edinburgh College, we have been so impressed by the calibre of students on this course.

“It seems a natural step to select one who we feel fits in with the ethos at Teviot and give them the very best start to their professional life.”

Helena Good, lecturer on the HND Graphic Design course at Edinburgh College, says: “Teviot has created a post which will be invaluable to one lucky graduate and we are very grateful for all their support to our students throughout their course at Edinburgh College.

“We are very proud of our close working relationship with Teviot. They inspire not only the students but staff as well.”
