Media Release: Media organisations invited to share their media news, and for free

PublicRelationsToUse

MEDIA organisations – including newspapers, magazines, radio stations, digital agencies, marketing outfits and PR firms – are being invited to upload stories about themselves on the media resources website, allmediascotland.com, for free.

The offer is the latest editorial direction being taken by the site’s owners. Twelve months ago, it was decided it was no longer economically viable to operate a news reporting service.

But, says the site, here is an opportunity for some media news to return, albeit in the form of media releases that involve organisations promoting themselves, such as new services, annual results, staff appointments, etc.

Said a spokesperson: “It will be a different type of news, but it at least provides the Scots media community the chance to celebrate what it is up to.”

Media organisations are being offered the opportunity to take up, for free during this year, ten media release posting credits on the site.

Uploading a media release involves completing a template (headline, body copy, etc) ahead of it being moderated prior to publication. There are full posting instructions, for anyone not sure.

Ordinarily, ten media release posting credits on AMS would involve a cost of £100+VAT.

Some restrictions apply to the offer: a release cannot be used to advertise a job vacancy (that being offered as a separate service on the site) or to criticise, or make claims about, a third party.

And of course, it has to be only a media story.

By ‘media': broadcasting, digital, marketing, print and public relations.

And the call is also going out, to help revive the various features – such as My Media Day, The Story Behind and My Big Break – on the site’s front page, some of which have not been updated for several months.

Media stories and features, plus media job vacancies, are tweeted to over 18,000 followers, combined (via www.twitter.com/allmedianews and www.twitter.com/allmediajobs), plus shared with a 3,000-strong eNewsletter mailing list.

Anyone interested should email here, for more information.
