Media Release: Media training courses, next batch announced

WE have managed to secure further funding to run the following courses in Glasgow next month:

14 and 15 March 2017 Pitching and interviewing skills for journalists (two-day course)

21 March 2017 TV journalism (one-day course)

24 March 2017 Media law and ethics (one-day course)

30 and 31 March 2017 DSLR filming and editing (two-day course)

These places are being funded by the Scottish Union Learning fund and the Scottish Government and a brief summary of each course is below:

Pitching and interviewing skills for journalists

This course will help journalists to develop their existing journalistic skills for television broadcasting.

Television interviewing techniques will be covered with the focus of the session on increasing the range of expertise.

If you feel your self-confidence, body language and voice might let you down, then this practical workshop is for you.

TV journalism

The TV journalism course covers basic aspects of television reporting – showing films of TV reporters in various live situations, in the field and studio based. It looks at ‘as-live’ reporting/pre-recorded packages and packages with live top and tails.

Media law and ethics

The media law and ethics course covers newsgathering – understanding sources of information and potential pitfalls, dangers for journalists, court reporting, protecting privacy and confidence,  protecting your position, Leveson – where are we now? The course looks at the latest position re media regulation and looks at responsible reporting guidelines/ethical issues.

DSLR filming and editing

This course is a two-day intensive introduction to video content for multiplatform delivery and learners will look at all aspects of moving from stills to video.
