A LEADING North-east protective coatings company is building its portfolio of services with the introduction of an innovative, resin floor protective coating.

Family-run business, Davidsons Blast Services (DBS) – along with its sister company Davidsons Marine & Industrial Painters – both of which services the oil and gas, marine and subsea sectors, are offering the new floor coating service to industries where heavy footfall and vehicular traffic is the norm.

The resin flooring has proven to be popular in commercial sectors such as airports, warehouses, shopping centres, residential garages, distilleries, multi-storey car parks, and, more recently, the innovative product has been applied to vessel decks and crane walkways.

The Peterhead-based business partnered with Flowcrete, a market-leading manufacturer of quality industrial and commercial resin flooring products, to successfully become approved applicators of the products.

The specialist applications that Davidsons’ offers provide complete flexibility of design, colour and the capability to apply bespoke patterns for a personalised floor finish.

The floor coating application will offer chemical, wear and slip resistance with a seamless and hygienic finish.

The car park coatings system also helps enhance visual appearance, improve light reflectivity, whilst reducing noise and preventing water ingress.

Alexander Davidson, resin flooring director of DBS, said: “The resin flooring application is excellent for ground susceptible to heavily trafficked areas; it is hard wearing, low maintenance and can be fully cured within two hours.

“This makes it ideal for businesses who service the public sector requiring all maintenance works to be carried out without disruption to business opening hours.

“Residential garages are also taking advantage of the low maintenance, fast curing times. The garage can be emptied, floor coating applied and garage put back in order in only a few hours.

“The uptake on our new service has been fantastic and the feedback we have received is excellent.”

Ewan Aiken, managing director of Alex Aiken & Sons Ltd, said: “I would like to thank Davidsons for a great job of recommending and laying the new flooring in our Peterhead workshop, canteen and toilet area.

“We have never been able to come up with the correct solution and have wasted money time and time again applying the wrong type of flooring, but Davidsons’ new flooring system seems to have done the trick.”
