Media release: ‘Motörhead Day’ targets a global audience

LEMMIUM.ORG, the organisers of the Motörhead Day tribute, have today announced that fans around the world will be able to watch a live stream of the event at www.Lemmium.org.

John Wright, of Lemmium, said: “We have a very deep connection with our global followers and, ahead of our ambitions to establish ‘Motörhead Day’, in other countries around the world, we felt the next best thing was to enable fans to watch the event streamed live via the internet, bringing fans and friends together to celebrate a very special event.”

Motörhead Day will be held this week, Thursday 20th July at Our Black Heart, Camden, London.

The date is highly significant as it is the anniversary of the band’s first gig in 1975.

Adds Wright: “Our venue is a stone’s throw from the site of the original first show at Camden Roundhouse in July 1975.

“It will be a fantastic day, full of activity, where people can catch up and make new friends, whilst watching top UK Motörhead tribute act, Motörheadache.

“We are currently working to unveil the first Motörhead landmark; think ‘blue plaque but with attitude’.

“We are delighted that fans will have the opportunity to contribute to the fundraising and we know that building a permanent legacy is something that unites the band, the fans and Lemmium.org.

“We are trying to really engage the fans to get involved, so there will be the opportunity to pose for photos with an official replica Lemmy bass guitar and Marshall stack.”

The event kicks off at 4pm, with the first live set at 8pm. Attendees are advised to get there early.

Notes for editors:

Lemmium is a campaigning, not-for-profit, focused on developing a permanent legacy for iconic British hard rock band, Motörhead. Its name derives from our submission to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) to name the heavy metal element, 115, in the Periodic Table, ‘Lemmium’.

The naming proposal received 157k signatures in 2016 on a Change.org petition and received global print, digital and broadcast news coverage from the BBC, Sky, ABC and NBC – following a viral campaign.

The campaign has subsequently redefined its mission statement for Lemmium “to bring people together to deliver a legacy fit for Motörhead and Lemmy” and it enjoys significant celebrity endorsement from the hard rock and metal community.
