Media release: Free expert advice at The Scottish Homebuilding & Renovating Show

THE Scottish Homebuilding & Renovating Show, the consumer exhibition for self-builders, home renovators and improvers, returns to the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh on 21 – 22 October 2017.

As well as all the latest products and services from over 130 exhibitors, experts will be on hand to provide free guidance and support to visitors at 16 free seminars, over 20 masterclasses, as well as free expert advice at The Advice Centre, where visitors can take plans, outline drawings or ideas and speak to architects, builders and planning experts as well as one of the Homebuilding & Renovating magazine team.

Seminars will be led by self-build and renovating experts, including self-build expert, Michael Holmes; Jason Orme, editorial director, Homebuilding & Renovating magazine; and Allan Corfield, a chartered architect and self-build expert who specialises in supporting self-builders throughout the UK build their dream home.

Topics will include planning permission – find your way through the planning maze; extension design ideas, and a beginner’s guide to building your own home.

Masterclasses will be hosted by exhibitors and provide more in-depth information on specific topics including interior and space planning, how to fund a self-build or renovation project and choosing the right heating system.

Michael Holmes says: “With the interest in self-build huge and more people choosing to improve their existing home rather than go through the upheaval and cost of moving, we are expecting a busy Edinburgh show.”

The show is taking place at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh on October 21 – 22 October 2017. Opening hours: Saturday 10am – 5pm; Sunday 10am – 4.30pm.
