FOLLOWING the success of the 2016 Scottish & Ethical Christmas Fair, Hand Up Events is delighted to announce The Dundee Scottish & Ethical Christmas Fair will be taking place, once again, in the cultural heart of Dundee in City Square – from 4 – 23 December, at the Caird Hall.

A lively launch will take place on Tuesday 5th December in front of the Caird Hall at 12 noon with The Rt Honourable Lord Provost of Dundee Ian Borthwick, and special guests TV personality Gail Porter, Scottish tenor Martin Aelred and Santa!

Tania Pramschufer, director of Hand Up events, said: ”The welcome we received last year in Dundee really made the event a truly superb fun time for us all and in fact that was the deciding factor for returning again this year.

“There was a constant buzz last year from lots of friendly people, looking to add something novel to their Christmas shopping whilst enjoying the market sparkle and fun.

“We are sending out a final shout for stall bookings which are going fast and delighted to have a wonderful range of fair trade and ethical products from local artisans and producers as well as our loyal international exhibitors who will be travelling from Kenya, Zambia, India and Peru to create an amazing international selection under one roof.”

Tania added: “Already this year, there has been a fantastic exhibitor uptake already of over 40 stall holders and to name a few, we are welcoming The Kilted Fudge Company, Eden Mill Brewery, Damn Fine Cheese, Blue Llama Shop, Lumina Jewellery, Celtic Hart, Fair Trade Scotland, RSPB, The White Goose Restaurant, Vybrid, After the Rain, Isobel Jewellery design, Eclectic Shock, Pieroth Wines, Scottish Wildlife Trust, ACTSA, Gecko Galleries, Me to You, Woodland Trust, Clootie Dumpling, Edin-Burgers, Braw Taste and many more in our giant decorated festive marquee.”

Commenting on her appearance in Dundee, TV personality, Gail Porter, said: “Scotland is calling me again this year! This is the eleventh amazing year running for the Scottish & Ethical Christmas Fair returning to Dundee for a second year. It is going to be a very exciting time with incredible wealth of stalls, music, lovely seasonal food and a few festive surprises.

Gail added: “It is my first visit to the fair and I am looking forward to meeting local and international stall holders, artisans, designers, chefs and musicians and help launch the second ethical Christmas Fair in Dundee in style – as well as do a bit of shopping myself!”

Returning to the Fair this year, Elaine Lowe, from Blue Llama, said: “I’ve been working closely with our knitters in Peru, creating some fantastic new items alongside our classic alpaca beanies, scarves and ponchos.

“I think markets like this offer the public a very interesting and varied selection of goods from near and far all under one roof. And, as we are generally all small business ventures it is a great opportunity for us all. In addition, people were really friendly and welcoming to us last year which made for a great atmosphere to work in.”

Also taking part for the very first time in the Christmas Fair, Lauren Clegg, local joint owner of The White Goose – one of Dundee’s newest contemporary restaurants, said: “We are hoping to bring a flavour of our new restaurant to a much wider audience and see the Dundee Christmas market as an ideal way to meet potential diners and visitors as they stroll around the fair.”

Lauren added: “We will be giving people a chance to ‘meet & greet’ our head chef and joint owner, Calum Runciman, who will be giving tips on festive and winter seasonal cooking, along with some samples for visitors to try so we encourage people dine out with us.”

There will also be a Santa Grotto with surprise visits from Santa, a seated cafe area and some festive films for the children and with warm and festive food and drinks and with a fun atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

Watch out for more information on entertainment stalls and launch of the fair!
