The UK-wide innovative LawBid.co.uk legal matchmaking service has caught the imagination of another awards panel, this time in Birmingham.
LawBid.co.uk, the online service that seamlessly matches clients with a panel of solicitors, has been shortlisted for Business Innovation by the Birmingham Law Society, the professional representative body in the West Midlands.
After a string of plaudits in 2017, it’s the first nomination of the year for the service.
The award shortlisting follows up reports from both the Law Society and the Competition & Markets Authority, which both identified a need for a better way for solicitors to make first contact with clients, and for better price transparency to stimulate growth in the legal sector.
LawBid.co.uk, was developed by Kid Harwood, a practicing solicitor and director at Wildings in Birmingham and Manchester. It’s under that firm’s membership of the Society that the LawBid service is entered.
LawBid provides a legal matchmaking service, allowing clients and law firms to connect securely and transparently online. Firms all over the UK are already using LawBid.co.uk to better serve existing and new clients in all areas of legal expertise.
Kid Harwood said the nomination recognised the growing contribution LawBid is making to bringing digital presence into the legal profession. The service makes it easier for more potential clients to engage with the legal advice they need.
He said: “Over the past few years, price transparency has been an issue repeatedly identified by the Law Society, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and the Competition & Markets Authority.
“As a solicitor, I know the difficulty that firms have publishing prices upfront. With LawBid, instead of giving one-size-fits-all prices, firms are able to review a potential client’s requirements and provide a quote on a case by case basis. This gives the consumer the choice and transparency they need without making life difficult for solicitors.”
The Awards will be presented on Thursday, 8 March 2018 at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre, in front of a panel of judges drawn from industry and academia. Kid Harwood said: “We are delighted to be nominated for our work and to have the chance to shine in front of some of the best and brightest from the legal sector.”
