PublicRelationsToUse

PAUL Telegdy, president of NBC Entertainment’s Alternative and Reality Group, is to give the Worldview Address at the Edinburgh TV Festival, it was announced today (MON).

Telegdy will bring his unique perspective on the television landscape to the keynote speech, discussing the current content arms race and its impact on creativity and storytelling on a global scale. The speech will be followed by a moderated Q&A.

Telegdy’s current charge stems from a highly successful tenure as president, Alternative and Late Night Programming, his previous post at the network which he held beginning in 2011.

Under Telegdy’s purview are NBC’s unscripted series, including such major franchises as The Voice, America’s Got Talent, and American Ninja Warrior; and specials programming, including the Golden Globe Awards, the Billboard Awards and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as the US broadcast of the global philanthropic event Red Nose Day which to date has raised more than $100 million to impact the lives of children around the world.

In addition, Paul’s group includes Universal Television Alternative Studio, which is quickly becoming a major supplier of hit franchises both in the States and around the globe, including World of Dance – currently in production in Poland, Thailand and the Philippines, The Wall – which is currently airing in 22 countries, and Hollywood Game Night – which has been sold internationally in 17 countries.

Before arriving at NBC, Telegdy served as Executive Vice President, Sales, Content and Production, BBC Worldwide America, based in Los Angeles.

Advisory chair, Phil Edgar-Jones, said: “It is a real coup to have Paul at this year’s TV Festival offering delegates an insight into his views on the current media landscape. The sheer scale and breadth of the programming he oversees is phenomenal, and following a hugely successful career, this session promises to be both inspiring and informative.”

As a festival and a charity, the Edinburgh Television Festival is committed to helping young people from all backgrounds gain access to the TV Industry. It runs two young talent schemes, Ones to Watch and The Network.

Both schemes aim to ensure that the people working in television are as diverse as the audience watching it.
