STV Productions, led by David Mortimer, has announced a key appointment to further strengthen its Daytime and Popular Factual team.

Ramy El-Bergamy will join the business as head of Development, Daytime & Popular Factual.

Ramy joins from Channel 4 where he was commissioning executive, Daytime, looking after some of the channel’s biggest brands including A Place in the Sun and Four in a Bed.

Previously, as the channel’s On Screen Diversity Executive, Ramy worked in partnership with commissioning, talent and the independent sector to ensure that the best people, from the widest possible pool, were seen on screen. He has also worked in the independent sector for ten years with credits including Big Brother and The Voice.

Ramy will join Jim Regan, head of Daytime & Popular Factual, to build on STV Productions’ growing success in the genre, which includes 20 commissioned series of ratings-winners Antiques Road Trip and nine series of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, both for BBC.

The new appointment forms part of an ambitious three-year growth plan, through which the business is investing £15m in content and digital to position STV as a major creative force in Scotland and beyond.

STV Productions recently announced the appointment of leading creative talent, Craig Hunter, as creative director, Factual.

David Mortimer, managing director, STV Productions, said: “I am excited to announce another key appointment today as we pursue our goal of establishing STV Productions as a major industry player over the next few years. Ramy brings extensive experience and expertise to our Daytime & Popular Factual team and I look forward to welcoming him on board.”
