Media release: Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair set to showcase the best of Scottish and international creative talent this weekend

GLASGOW once again puts itself at the heart of the cultural calendar with the fifth annual Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair, which takes place in a purpose-built space within the grounds of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

Whether you are a serious collector or first-time buyer, the Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair promises to have something for everyone.

The fair aims to open art up to all and to make original art accessible, showcasing the creative talents of painters, printmakers, sculptors and photographers – with works ranging from as little as £50 to over £20,000 in price.

The full line-up is available to view online, and includes a wealth of local, national and international exhibitors.

Representing Glasgow will be The Glasgow Gallery, Arteries Gallery, Subversion Gallery and the Hidden Lane’s Sarah Kudirka – alongside Bristol’s Clifton Fine Art, Edinburgh’s Robertson Fine Art and online gallery, Curious Egg.

There will be plenty of home-grown talent such as Peter Howson, James McDonald, Philip Raskin and Gerard M Burns beside artists from Ireland, Argentina, Berlin and beyond.

Variety will as always be aplenty with traditional portraiture sitting happily alongside urban street art; abstract works will be on display beside seascapes and landscapes and the expected alongside the unexpected.

Gerry Muldoon, event organiser, said: “The GCAF is an opportunity for artists and galleries to exhibit and sell contemporary affordable and original art at a centrally located venue. Visitors can expect to see a diverse range and variety of original art, prints, sculpture and photography. The event features established, celebrity, and emerging artists. A number of the works on display have been commissioned exclusively for the fair.

“During the course of the weekend, members of the public will have the exciting and rare opportunity to meet a number of the artists who will be in attendance.”
