THE Edinburgh Television Festival, brought to you by Freeview and YouTube, has revealed the winners from each of the categories at the prestigious TV Awards, it was announced today (THURS).

Hosted by stand-up comedian, Mo Gilligan, the highly-coveted awards, now in their 18th year, recognise outstanding talent, celebrating the incredible breadth of genres and creativity that broadcasters and production companies produce year after year.

Best Popular Factual Series:

Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, CPL Productions for Channel 4

Best Entertainment Series:

Gogglebox, Studio Lambert for Channel 4

Best Comedy Series:

Fleabag Series 2, Two Brothers for BBC Three

Outstanding Achievement Award:

Hugh Laurie CBE

Best Breakthrough Talent:

Festival director, Lisa Campbell, said: “This year’s awards celebrate an incredible array of talent from the legendary Hugh Laurie right through to the best small indie. The Edinburgh TV Awards showcase the best in class and we’d like to extend our congratulations to all winners and nominees for their creativity and commitment to the industry.”

As a festival and a charity, the Edinburgh International Television Festival is committed to helping young people from all backgrounds gain access to the TV industry. It runs two young talent schemes, Ones to Watch and The Network.

Both schemes aim to ensure that the people working in television are as diverse as the audience watching it.
