Media release: WIRE wins DC Thomson Media creative account

WIRE

GLASGOW-based communications agency, WIRE, has won the creative account for DC Thomson Media, one of the UK’s leading content creators.

WIRE – recently named as the Marketing Society Scotland’s Star Agency of the Year (pictured) – was hired after a three-way pitch and will now deliver creative, paid and earned media support across DC Thomson Media’s extensive and growing newspaper, magazine and radio portfolios.

Lee Beattie, director at WIRE, said: “From reading the comic strips in my grandpa’s Sunday Post, to buying the Beano every week, I’ve grown up loving so many of DCT Media’s brands, so this is a client win that feels especially joyful.

“It’s also hugely exciting to be working with a company that’s investing in the future of print as well as innovating and producing other dynamic content and experiences. Our first campaign to launch Platinum, a new women’s magazine, has been a dream to work on.”

Rebecca Moncrieff, head of Communications & Brand Marketing for DC Thomson Media, said: “We’re delighted to be working with WIRE on a number of exciting projects.

“During the pitch process it was clear that WIRE team were hugely passionate about our business and brands, and since winning the contract they have already delivered some compelling work for us. I’m excited to launch the first campaign for our brand-new women’s magazine, Platinum, and there is plenty more to come!”

This win contributes to WIRE’s most successful new business drive to date. It’s the agency’s third win this year to handle the full client creative brief (Old Pulteney and AnCnoc whisky) alongside other new accounts for Orchard Pig cider, and BOE Gin.

WIRE also became the first agency to win the UK Creative Shootout competition and has been named Agency of The Year at PR Moment Awards, the Nods and Marketing Society Scotland this year.
