THOUSANDS of visitors from all over the UK are expected to head to Kip Marina, Inverclyde, this weekend as the 33rd Scotland’s Boat Show (SBS) – the largest in Scotland and second-largest in the UK – takes to the water and shore with an unrivalled display of boats and attractions that places it in the forefront of the Scottish marine calendar.

Opening this Friday 11th October, the three-day show promises something for everyone with an interest in the marine and leisure sectors, with displays boats to suit every interest, including new models making their Scottish debut and, uniquely for UK boat shows, a wide range of high-quality, pre-owned boats on display, ensuring something to tempt prospective purchasers regardless of budget.

Brokerage experts, Michael Schmidt & Partner, are offering expert advice and guidance around their displays while, in the new boat area, sister company, Inspiration Marine, will have the spectacular Hanse yachts on view, together with the latest addition to their portfolio, Ballistic RIBs.

These amazing boats will be open to the public and there is the chance to book a demo trip to experience the excitement for yourself!

Sail enthusiasts have plenty to enjoy with Swedish company, Arcona’s latest cruising and racing offering together with a selection of new sail and powerboats from prestigious companies like DDZ Marine, Windermere Aquatic, Sunbird and Redbay.

Marine Sales Scotland’s spectacular powerboat display expands again this year and promise boats for all budgets and interests including the latest stunning models from Quicksilver and Bavaria.

For those interested in something slightly smaller in terms of size and budget, head over to the adjacent small boat area, where Hartley Boats flagship display of award-winning sport dinghies always attracts large numbers of visitors and there are Hartley experts on hand to advise on every aspect of this exciting sport.

Consistently busy throughout the show, the ever-popular RYA Scotland pavilion showcases the latest marine and leisure products from UK wide companies and, with the aim of encouraging more people to get involved in boats and boating in Scotland for the first time, it’s also the base for RYA Scotland’s free training sessions which allow visitors to try a short hands-on experience on powerboats and RIBs under the expert eye of RYA Scotland’s instructor partner, You and Sea Training, all in the safe environment of Kip Marina.

Another popular visitor returning for 2019 is the 60-foot Clipper round-the-world race yacht, ‘Taeping’, the first of these magnificent race boats to be built. Taeping will be open to visitors throughout the show and there is an unique opportunity to step on board, get an up-close view of the accommodation, ask the crew questions and to find out how you can join in one of its’ future voyages or even circumnavigate the globe!

Back on shore, the Cruising Association are the new main sponsor of the popular stage and theatre in the RYA Scotland pavilion and they are presenting three days of entertaining and informative free lectures and presentations on topics, ranging from everything from expert advice on ‘Sailing Round Britain’ to sampling fresh Scottish seafood. A full programme of talks will be available via the SBS website.

Elsewhere, more undercover exhibition space is added for SBS19, with the Inverclyde Pavilion becoming the venue for smaller boats and RIBs, marine and leisure exhibitors, sailing clubs and an expanded Kip Marina Chandlery and Outdoor Clothing Store, plus The Chartroom café. Adjacent to this in the Car & Motorhome area, visitors can see the latest models from Porsche, Morgan and other prestigious manufacturers, luxury holiday homes from Cloch Caravans, while making a welcome return to the show this year are West Coast Harley Davidson with the latest iconic models to get you out on two wheels plus hopefully a preview of the incredible new Electric Harley Davidson, the LiveWire.

For a bit of retail therapy, head to the Caledonian MacBrayne Lifestyle Pavilion, full of artisan craft and luxury goods exhibitors with everything from fashion to furniture, or visit the food and drink exhibitors in the adjacent West College Scotland Food & Drink Pavilion where you can find seafood, baking or cheese form some of the country’s best producers. While you’re there enjoy the live cookery demonstrations from the Hospitality students from WCS as they show off their skills using fresh Scottish produce and don’t miss Sunday when TV chef, Nick Nairn, presents three live demonstrations in his inimitable style.

For the family, there will be pipe bands, the Inverclyde & Largs Rock Choirs, birds of prey from KG Hawks, a Food Truck area and a children’s play area to keep the little ones occupied, all adding up to make Scotland’s Boat Show the best free day out both on and off the water!
