THE Scottish Sun has teamed up with Si Ferry, Open Goal and the Scottish Government to launch a new online video and podcast series.

The first episode of Open Goal: On The Road is out today [Wednesday] and sees Si
interview singer-songwriter, Amy Macdonald, as she drives around Glasgow in her top-of-the-range Ferrari.

This Is The Life rocker, Amy, recalls talking football with Rod Stewart, performing Flower of Scotland in front of Diego Maradona, becoming pals with the Still Game cast, and Walt Disney featuring in her ultimate car share.

A preview clip of the interview can be viewed here:

The nine-part video podcast series is backed by the Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland as part of its #DriveSmart campaign, with safe driving behaviours set to form a key part of each discussion.

Scottish Sun head of Digital, James McIvor, said: “We’re all fans of Open Goal in the office and we were keen to work with Si and the team from the outset.

“We were tasked with coming up with a podcast that would appeal to young men and kept coming back to Si and Open Goal.

“This new series combines beautiful cars and the beautiful game and while there will be interviews with footballers and managers we also wanted to interview the great and good of Scottish football, including celebrity fans.”

Si, 31, is a semi-professional footballer who launched the award-winning Open Goal podcast in 2017.

Future guests on Open Goal: On The Road include legendary broadcaster Chick Young, Scotland national team manager Shelley Kerr, professional wrestler and actor Grado, and the ‘voice’ of Scottish football, Ian Crocker.

A spokesman for Open Goal said: “We’re delighted to introduce a brand new feature to
our online channel with the launch of Open Goal: On The Road in partnership with the Scottish Government, Road Safety Scotland and The Scottish Sun.

“The new show sees a change of environment for us as our guests from the world of
sport and entertainment take Si for a spin around Scotland in their very own wheels to chat all things cars, career highlights and of course football.

“Expect more laughs, plenty of great stories and the usual questionable banter from our host!”

Michael McDonnell, director, Road Safety Scotland added: “As we continue the roll
out of our #DriveSmart campaign, we’re always on the lookout for opportunities to
speak directly to our target audience in a way that’s going to interest them. ‘Open Goal: On The Road’ is exactly that.

“The partnership gives us access to some of Scotland’s best-loved talent and most exciting content creators. It’s great to have them back our campaign, and we’re very excited about the way in which they’ve been able to weave our messaging throughout the episodes to get this in front of our audience.”
