Easdale

ARGYLL-based company, Easdale Experiences, is delighted to unveil their programme of creative courses in photography, screen dance and writing which will take place during 2020.

Now in their fourth year, the courses offer amateurs and professionals alike the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with top industry professionals in one of Scotland’s most iconic and beautiful settings.

Easdale is the smallest permanently-inhabited inner-Hebridean island, with a population of 65 residents. Formerly the centre of Scotland’s slate quarrying industry, it is a tranquil and beautiful location and an ideal place to come and stay and be inspired.

The popular short photography courses return for a fourth year in June, hosted again by professionals Colin McPherson and Adam Lee.

This year, they will be running two separate courses: ‘Practical Storytelling’, which is aimed at those who want to master some of the basics of photography and ‘Develop your Narrative’ which is for participants who want to advance the creative possibilities of their practice.

Easdale Experiences is also delighted to announce the return to Easdale of internationally-acclaimed artist and filmmaker, Katrina McPherson, who will host ‘Screendance the the Landscape’, an intensive five-day course for students and practitioners alike.

Katrina, who is based in Edinburgh, was the recipient of a career achievement award by Dance Camera West in Los Angeles In January 2020.

Finally, award-winning journalist and writer, Louise Tickle, returns to host her course, entitled ‘Writing to Challenge and Change your World’.

Louise is a regular contributor to The Guardian and other newspapers and campaigns for transparency in the justice system. Her course supports and encourages people who wish to effect change through writing.

All the courses are open and accessible to a wide range of people, whatever their skill levels and interests. The aim is to provide a warm welcome and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the courses in the unique and historic surroundings of Easdale island.

The course fees include all catering with a menu of freshly-prepared, home cooked meals each day provided. Getting to and from Easdale is straightforward, either by car or using the good public transport links between Glasgow and Oban. The accommodation provided is in comfortable traditionally-designed cottages which have all modern amenities, including good internet provision.
