EDGEsport, the global action sports channel owned and operated by IMG, launches on the STV Player today.

This exciting new platform extends the reach of the sports channel and provides STV viewers with free access to live and recorded premium action sports content from across the world, 24 hours a day.

Sports content includes motorsport, mountain biking, BMX, skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and much more.

In addition to this tremendous offering of new sports content on the Player, Scotland kicks off their 2020 Guinness Six Nations rugby campaign on Saturday 1st February as they take on Ireland at the Aviva Stadium from 4.45pm. This match is available both on air and as a live stream and catch up on the STV Player.

STV Player is becoming a destination for sports, with continued investment in programming providing viewers with an even greater choice of exclusive, live and on demand content.

EDGEsport joins two other sports partners on the STV Player including: Freesports (offering Pro14 Rugby, Premier League Pool, MLS Major League Soccer, World Rally Cross, Cage Warriors, NHL Ice Hockey, Seria A, Formula E, Nascar); and Joe Media providing a wealth of magazine-style sports programmes, including House of Rugby – with James Haskell and Mike Tindall, and Liquid Football.

Richard Williams, managing director, Digital at STV, said: “We’re thrilled to have EDGEsport on board with their impressive access to a brilliant range of live action sports events and premium content from across the world.

“Scotland is a nation of sports fans so we’re constantly striving to ensure this audience is spoilt for choice on the STV Player – and I’m confident we’re delivering. We’re kicking off February with this exciting new offering from EDGEsport alongside live streams from what promises to be a lively Six Nations competition.

“So if you fancy watching sport – popular, niche, live action or extreme – think STV Player.”

John Grabowski, commercial director at EDGEsport, said: “EDGEsport is an unique offering for action sports fans, and expanding our distribution into Scotland and UK-wide with STV will allow fans to watch all of their favourite sports with new and great events being added all the time.

“We are excited to launch and bring the STV audience the exclusive premiere of ‘A Dog’s Life,’ a mountain biking series with Brendan Fairclough, on Saturday 1st February and we will continue to bring top action sports to STV throughout the year.”
