Media release: Women in Journalism (Scotland) launching its first ‘salon’, with Ajay Close in conversation

PublicRelationsToUse

WOMEN in Journalism Scotland (WiJ Scotland) is launching its brand new salon – with a special event on Thursday 19 March at which award-winning journalist-turned-author, Ajay Close, will discuss her recently-published sixth novel.

To mark the launch of What We Did in The Dark (Sandstone Press), WiJ Scotland is hosting the in-conversation with Ajay at the Outwith Agency in Govanhill, Glasgow.

The WiJ Scotland Salon – a blend of book group meets book festival event – will be hosted by journalist, Anna Burnside.

Anna, who used to run her own ‘salon’ in her own living room, says: “Our first guest author, Ajay Close, appeared in my front room twice and was a roaring success.

“She’s a former journalist – I worked with her at Scotland on Sunday back in the day. Her new book, What We Did in the Dark, is about Glaswegian journalist, Catherine Carswell.

“The lovely venue for the first event, the Outwith Agency in Glasgow’s Govanhill, is homely and cosy but we won’t be disturbing my children with too much laughing. (Yes, that happened.)”

Come along and hear Ajay discuss her new novel with Anna at this new creative agency and co-writing space in Glasgow run by Natalie Whittle, a senior editor at the Financial Times.

There will be a collection on the night for Beauty Banks, a charity run by journalist, Sali Hughes.

We will provide a box for donations.

Tickets: £5, here, on eventbrite.

Refreshments will be provided. There may even be home baking.

Anna has written about the transition from Home Salon to WiJ Scotland Salon. You can read her blog HERE on WiJ Scotland’s website.
