Media release: Pure Radio expanding reach into Dundee and Perth

PureRadio

DC Thomson Media have announced plans to extend the reach of Pure Radio Scotland into Dundee and Perth.

This significant expansion will see Pure Radio cover the areas of Tayside through the FM licence in place of Wave FM, which will cease broadcasting. Pure radio is a mainstream Scottish-centric commercial radio station and, from July, will bring its unique style to Tayside.

Since launching across Central Scotland on DAB and online last year, Pure Radio has quickly become one of Scotland’s fastest-growing radio stations with its much-loved Scottish presenters, relatable humour and strong commitment to playing the work of Scottish artists.

Adam Findlay, head of Radio at DC Thomson Media, said: “We’re thrilled to be extending the reach of Pure Radio into new areas. There’s no doubt the listeners will love hearing something different. From legendary Robin Galloway and Aberdeen’s Paul Harper to local Perthshire girl, Lynne Hogan, Pure will be a breath of fresh
Scottish air to listeners in Dundee and Perth.”

The move is an opportunity to increase listener numbers in Dundee and Perth, and extend advertisers’ reach across Pure Radio to include the Central Belt and now Tayside. DC Thomson Media is committed to supporting local businesses with advertising solutions, especially now, so Pure Radio will still serve local messages to listeners across Tayside with a local opt-out solution unique to Tayside advertisers.

Robin Galloway, host of Pure Radio’s Breakfast Show and overall station boss, said: “I’m so excited that Pure Radio will soon be heard across Tayside. We’re 100 per cent Scottish and to be able to expand our radio station beyond the Central Belt into Tayside is fantastic.”

Due to current restrictions, Robin was unable to attend the photoshoot, but he’s already in Dundee and Perth in spirit!

Pure Radio is scheduled to launch in Dundee and Perth in July 2020.
