PublicRelationsToUse

IN response to high levels of audience appreciation and as part of its ongoing response to COVID-19 restrictions, BBC Scotland has commissioned a second series of its multi-faith programme, The Service.

Beginning on Sunday 30th August on the BBC Scotland channel, the second series will continue to  broadcast different religious services each week, starting with a service from Glasgow Cathedral with prayers, sermon, readings and hymns from Reverend Mark Johnstone.

The series will feature a Holy Mass from Archbishop Leo Cushley, of the Catholic Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh and a service from the Glasgow Central Mosque lead by Imam Maulana Abdul Ghafoor.  Future broadcasts will be confirmed in due course.

Gareth Hydes, commissioning editor BBC Scotland, said: “We know our audiences appreciated this series during the early months of lockdown and we hope they will continue to do so as restrictions start to ease.

“We are committed to representing all faiths as part of our public service offer and connecting those who cannot visit their place of worship during these challenging times.”

The Service is produced by Multiplatform Productions for BBC Scotland
