DYNAMIC Kinross-based charity, Aero Space Scientific Educational Trust (ASSET), has today launched Cosmos Cinema Club, with a fun-filled Christmas drive-in movie programme at Fife Airport – in a bid to bring some welcome sparkle for families in the Fife and Kinross area, this winter.
Working with the Indy Cinema Group to produce the three-day drive-in event, the team has recognised a super-engaging way to keep their stargazing, astronomy and aviation education in the frame, as they present a low-risk way of showing movies during the Covid-19 pandemic at Fife Airport.
A special version of Capcom Go! The Apollo Story from NSC Creative will be shown at every screening.
Young fans of Christmas movie favourites will not be disappointed with an early 4.00pm showing of Polar Express, Elf, The Muppet Christmas Carol and 6.00pm showing of Frozen II, Home Alone and Last Christmas with a later showing starting at 9.30pm of Love Actually, Die Hard and Greatest Showman.
Commenting on the drive-in movie programme, Alisdair Stewart, CEO of ASSET, said: “We have been working on this movie event to bring something really special to the area for Christmas that will, hopefully, give families a great night out in a Covid-secure and friendly environment.
“We also want to keep our efforts to bring aerospace, aviation and astronomy education to young people across Scotland front of mind.
“Cosmos – who normally tour Scotland with their mobile planetarium to promote aerospace and astronomy to inspire young people – see this as a good way to continue to engage their audience during the pandemic and beyond.
“This is our very first movie event and we are very excited at the possibility of working with Indy Cinema on future events including more themed drive-ins and stargazing camps.”

Notes for editors:
Cosmos Cinema Club builds on many years operating a mobile planetarium (Cosmos Planetarium) across Scotland and the north of England. Government restrictions introduced to contain the Covid-19 coronavirus have stalled mobile planetarium operations for the foreseeable future but, through a new partnership with Indy Cinema Group, ASSET aims to continue to deliver awesome audiovisual content in a Covid-secure way.
Members of Cosmos Cinema Club (cost £10 for 2020) are entitled to club discounts on the ticket price of screenings.
Indy Cinema Group are highly experienced in delivering large-screen events and are therefore a natural long-term partner for ASSET.
ASSET is a charitable Community Benefit Society, community-led, controlled, and operated for the benefit of Kinross-shire and the community it serves.
Aero Space Kinross is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ASSET. The plan to create a permanent venue is a tremendous opportunity for the residents of Kinross-shire and beyond that will bring huge economic, educational and tourism benefits to the area, as well as providing locals, Scots, and visitors alike with a unique flight-themed science and space centre.
