EXPERIENCED journalist, Tom Martin, has been recruited by Scottish PR and public affairs agency, Quantum Communications, after nearly 17 years at the Daily Express.
Martin spent the past seven years as political editor of the Scottish Daily Express, making him the third former national political editor to join the Quantum team, along with former Scottish Daily Mail and Scottish Sun journalists Alan Roden and Christine Lavelle.
Quantum Communications is based in Scotland and north England, operating across the UK.
It was launched in 2019 by Roden and Flavia Paterson, ex-director of communications
for the Scotland Office.
Martin has been appointed a senior account manager following a sharp period of growth for Quantum, with Cordelia O’Neill also joining from the Wheatley Group in June.
Working in the Scottish Parliament as political editor, Martin led the Scottish Daily Express coverage of the Covid pandemic, the Brexit referendum, and several elections.
He previously worked as the paper’s executive news editor and news editor of the Scottish Sunday Express.
Prior to that, his extensive journalism experience includes roles at Scotland on Sunday, Press Team Scotland, the Fife Free Press, The Drum Magazine and The Shields Gazette.
Quantum Communications director and co-founder, Alan Roden, said: “We’re thrilled to have someone with Tom’s vast experience join our growing team.
“With three former political editors at Quantum, we can provide unrivalled media insight for our clients.
“Our public affairs workstreams are also expanding, and we look forward to further recruitment in the months ahead.”
