TOGETHER with headline partners at South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE), Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council, and the Scottish Government, the Supplier Development Programme (SDP) has announced the first-ever Meet the Buyer South event to take place on Tuesday, 4 October 2022 in Selkirk.

Expanding the success of 14 years of national Meet the Buyer events, Meet the Buyer South is being established as an annual event which will take place locally within the South of Scotland to open public sector procurement and business support to local businesses based in the region.

The first-ever Meet the Buyer South event will focus on one-to-one networking which will empower local businesses to find out what contract opportunities are available within Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council and SOSE, as well as local supply chains, and further afield across a range of public sector organisations.

Benefits of winning public sector contracts are many, including getting invoices paid within 30 days as a legal maximum, which offers cashflow businesses can rely on, stability and marketing mileage.

At the event, businesses will also learn about the free support available through the Supplier Development Programme to get ‘tender ready’ to bid for upcoming contract opportunities.

In addition to exhibitions from Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council, and South of Scotland Enterprise, confirmed exhibitors will include buyers from Scotland Excel, Scottish Procurement Alliance, hub South East Scotland and hub South West Scotland.

Other buyers looking to connect with local businesses across the region also include the ESES Communities and Capital City Partnership, Historic Environment Scotland, PfH Scotland, the Defence and Security Accelerator, Social Security Scotland, and Northern Lighthouse Board.

More exhibitions are still being confirmed.

Gillian Cameron, SDP Programme manager said: “Meet the Buyer South is an unmissable opportunity for businesses to spend one day out of the office to meet buyers and upsell their products and services through one-to-one networking.”

“The South of Scotland is open for business and small businesses can – and no doubt will – benefit from the opportunities that will arise from this event on 4 October.”

Open to sole traders, micro, small and medium-sized businesses, supported businesses, social enterprises and third sector organisations, no business is too small to attend Meet the Buyer South. This free event is open to businesses of all sizes.
