Media release: Cammach employee in finals of Northern Star Business Awards

A YOUNG employee of leading Aberdeen-based oil and gas engineering services company Cammach Group recently reached the final of a prestigious business award.

Zimbabwe-born Robert Hughes reached the finals of the Rising Star category of the Northern Star Business Awards, run by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commence.

This category recognises an individual employee who has shown outstanding potential and is proven to have made a major impact and contribution within the company.

This latest achievement follows hot on the heels of a successful run of award wins for Robert and the company.

Says a spokesperson: “Earlier this year, Robert was crowned best third year refrigeration apprentice at Aberdeen’s Tullos Training Centre, a leading provider for apprentice training programmes for nationally agreed standards in a range of occupations in the refrigeration, heating and ventilation industries.

“Last year, saw Robert win the award for the Tullos Training Centre’s best refrigeration apprentice before he went on to be named winner of the Scottish Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (RAC) Apprentice of the Year 2009 at the HVACR industry awards for outstanding achievement in Glasgow.

“In 2009, he was also named as the winner of a silver award in the UK-wide RAC National Student of the Year competition in Birmingham.”

Commenting on reaching the finals of the Northern Star Business Awards, Robert Hughes said: “Getting through to the finals is unbelievable and I am very happy to achieve this.”

Cammach Group managing director, Bill Barclay, added: “Robbie is taking his finalist’s position as a tribute to his dedication, and it reflects our company’s goal of providing a quality service.”
