Media release: Space experts complete Aberdeen move for marine engineers

ONE of the world’s biggest marine and subsea engineering firms has relocated to a new Aberdeen headquarters following a recent period of sustained business growth.

Neptune, the multinational engineering service provider for the oil, gas and subsea sectors, has moved into a new bespoke office in Aberdeen’s West End – which was designed by Scottish workplace design experts, Space Solutions.

The move has been prompted by a number of business acquisitions that Neptune has made in recent years, which had spread its staff across five separate office locations in Aberdeenshire.

By moving from their current base in Carden Place to larger open-planned premises on Queens Road, the firm has brought all of its Aberdeen-based staff under one roof – and reduced its property overheads in north-east Scotland.

Lo van Wachem, Neptune’s regional vice-president for Europe, Med & Africa, said: “We’ve acquired three companies within the last two years – Ross Deeptech, Subsea Engineering Solutions and STS-Submersible Technology Services – which has increased our operations across the Aberdeen area. However, this has also meant that we’ve had all of our staff spread over five office locations in the region.

“By moving into these new premises, we have been able to reduce our number of offices down to three and bring the majority of our workforce together under one roof.

“With its open plan areas, we envisage that the new office on Queens Road will improve communication between staff and help integrate those who were previously working across different business units. It is also a very striking building in a prominent location, which will help to further promote Neptune in the city.

“We’ve been very impressed with Space Solutions, who have been helpful and responsive throughout the duration of the project to design and fit-out the office to meet our specific requirements.”

Allan McEwan, Space Solutions’ business manager in Aberdeen, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Neptune on this project and have delivered a solution which better meets their existing needs, while accommodating their future growth.

“The new office is a striking building with a modern extension, and will help Neptune to raise their profile even further as they grow from strength to strength. Inside, we’ve created a modern, welcoming space which we’re sure will impress any visitors to the office, while providing their staff with a comfortable and productive working environment.

“We are very pleased with how smoothly the project was completed, from the design, through to delivery on-site and the relocation of staff. The glowing feedback from the client is testament to the benefits of our turnkey approach and the experience of our professional team. Hopefully, Neptune will continue to reap the benefits of their new office in Aberdeen for many years to come.”

Space Solutions is considered Scotland’s biggest independent expert in helping businesses manage changes within the workplace. It operates UK-wide – from bases in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Livingston – to design, build, fit-out, refurbish and relocate modern and productive business environments.
