Media release: Enchanted Forest smashes its records

THE Enchanted Forest, a leading outdoor light and sound event, which was run by the local community this year, has smashed all previous records  – clocking up just over 20,000 customers for the first time in the event’s nine-year history.

The event, which is run under the Perthshire Big Tree Country banner, has demonstrated a strong increase in demand, year on year, and, despite tough trading conditions, is now one of the key events in Scotland’s autumn tourism calendar, featuring heavily in VisitScotland promotions across the UK.

The event has been particularly well received by visitors this year, with over a 1,000 respondents rating this year’s event as the most enjoyable yet.

One customer commented: “We all thought that this was the best-ever Enchanted Forest. The children look forward to it every year and call it The Magic Forest, and this year it just was that. More lighting and more music made the whole forest come to life. It was truly peaceful and magical.”

Another customer said: “We loved it this year – so much so that my partner actually proposed to me between the Fire and Brimstone and the Water sections! All four of us in our party were completely in awe of the spectacular show and the amount of planning and organisation that had gone into it. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!”

Commenting on behalf of the Highland Perthshire Community Interest Company, which oversaw the running of the event this year, chair, Derek Allan, said: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s Enchanted Forest event which has been the most popular with our customers in the history of the event.

“This is the first year The Enchanted Forest has been run by the community and we’re particularly pleased that by working together we’ve delivered a memorable event which stands out as one of the best of its kind in Scotland, attracting over 20,000 visitors to the area annually and boosting the economic prosperity of the Highland Perthshire region.

“We are already looking forward to planning our 2011 event.”
