Media release: Cookie puts the theatre back into pre-theatre

A NATURAL home for the arts, Cookie, the award-winning bistro in Glasgow’s southside, is putting the theatre back into pre-theatre.

The bistro is collaborating with two neighbouring major cultural institutions – Citizens Theatre and Scottish Ballet – to introduce a set lunch pre- theatre offering of £10 for two courses from 12-7pm and a 15 per cent discount to ticket holders on its a la carte menu.

Cookie co-founder, Domenico Del Priore, said: “At just £10, our pre-theatre offering of seasonal food prepared right in front of you represents knock-out value. Cookie has always been popular with theatre-goers so collaborating with our neighbouring southside arts institutions makes perfect sense.

“Many Citizens Theatre and Scottish Ballet customers, staff and visiting productions are Cookie regulars for pre- and post-performance food and refreshments.

“We hope to strengthen this relationship further through these collaborations with our support, sponsorship and cross-promotions. As the financial belt is pulled ever tighter on all arts organisations, these types of collaboration become ever more important.”

Says a spokesperson: “Under its collaboration with The Citizens, Cookie will provide catering for Citizens Theatre events, both for the theatre’s own events and as the recommended caterer to sponsors. In addition to a range of special promotions tailored for Cookie customers, The Citizens will work with the bistro on its community focus, with hopes to see the Citizens Community Company and Young Co perform at Cookie.”

Adds Del Priore: “The message is simple: go to the theatre and see one of the variety of productions at the Citizens Theatre, become a friend of Scottish Ballet and eat at Cookie. In doing so, you will help promote the vibrancy of cultural life in your city.”

Recently named Glasgow Newcomer of the Year 2010 for breaking the mould of local eating and drinking, Cookie is based at 72 Nithsdale Road, Pollokshields, Glasgow. For further information about Cookie and future events, log on to www.cookiescotland.com or check it out on Facebook.
