Media release: Soldes by Paris – fabulous winter fashion in the world

THE ‘Soldes by Paris’ event invites fashionistas from all around the world to come to Paris for the winter sales.

Throughout January 2011, the whole city will live and breathe shopping!

The Paris tourism trade will offer visitors exclusive reductions on accommodation, restaurants and leisure activities.

‘Soldes by Paris’ has also lined up seven fantastic shopping itineraries, good deals, a contest with exciting prizes to be won and special events in shopping districts.

An affordable stay and a chance to snap up great bargains during the winter sales in the world’s shopping and ‘fashion capital’! That’s what ‘Soldes by Paris’ offers visitors from all around the world.

For one whole month, shops sell their merchandise at steep discounts, districts are in festive mood and Paris tourism trade professionals (hotels, restaurants, coach operators etc.) provide more than 330 unique special offers with reductions of up to 50 per cent.

Shopping fans can start planning their trip to Paris straightaway by discovering good deals and special offers – plus exclusive offers for MasterCard holders – on http://www.shoppingbyparis.com/en/.

Looking for the season’s must-have fashion accessory? Timeless basics and classic pieces? Ethical and sustainable products? The seven ‘Soldes by Paris’ itineraries are a treasure trove of ideas for shops, cultural venues and gourmet stop-offs to suit any shopping profile.

There are five different itineraries for five different styles – Select, Trendy, Creative, Bobo-Chic and Ethic-Ethnic, plus the Savvy itinerary for fans of stock clearance stores and cut-price designer labels.

Finally, fashion designer Nathalie Garçon – the 2011 ‘Paris, shopping and fashion capital’ ambassador who embodies Parisian chic – has drawn up an itinerary featuring her top fashion, culture and food picks.

These thematic itineraries can be found in the Paris Shopping Book 2011, the indispensable French-English bilingual guide, distributed free of charge from January and throughout the year at the welcome centres of the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau.

For the first time in the event’s history, Parisians and visitors alike will simply have to present the guide to benefit from reductions or gifts throughout the sales period or all year in certain shops indicated by a pictogram.

As of 1 October 2010, the seven itineraries and all the Shopping Book 2011 addresses and special offers are online on the website www.shoppingbyparis.com.

Shoppers will be able to choose THE itinerary that corresponds the most to their taste and then track down those sales bargains.

In addition, access to all the practical information, online hotel bookings and interactive maps will provide the opportunity to discover – or re-discover – the French capital, always festive and decked out in lights at this time of year.

And, with an exclusive iPhone application available for a free download from the Apple Store in November, shoppers will have all the interactive itineraries at their fingertips!

Organised by the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau with the support of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Paris Delegation, the Paris City Council, and ATOUT FRANCE for promotion of the event abroad, and MasterCard – the official sponsor of the event, Soldes by Paris seeks to increase the attractiveness of the capital to French and international visitors in January and February.

The press launch is being held at the Hôtel de Ville on 11 January 2011, with the official launch of the winter sales to follow on 12 January.
