Media release: Weber Shandwick makes senior Glasgow hire

LEADING public relations consultancy, Weber Shandwick, has appointed ex-journalist, Ed Black, as a senior account manager to join its Glasgow team.

Black joins the consultancy’s Glasgow office from the London Evening Standard.

An Edinburgh University graduate, Ed has spent over a decade writing for media both north and south of the border, including The Scotsman, Daily Express, The Financial Times, Scotland on Sunday and Channel Five.

At Weber Shandwick, Black – who has also spent two years working as a PR consultant for Monument PR – will work for clients across a wide range of sectors including corporate, consumer and business-to-business campaigns.

He said: “The opportunity to work in one of the world’s leading communications consultancies has come at the right time in my career. Communications is key to the success of every business model. I hope to make a valuable contribution and use my experience as a journalist to ensure clients are saying the right things to the right audiences.”

Speaking of Black’s appointment, David Sawyer, director of Weber Shandwick’s Glasgow office, said: “We’re pleased to have Ed on board. His extensive experience in journalism, along with his recent background as a PR consultant, will be a great asset to our clients in Glasgow.”

And on the back of recent new business wins, Weber Shandwick is looking for an experienced account manager to join its Glasgow team in the New Year. Interested applicants should contact David Sawyer on 07770 886923 or dsawyer@webershandwick.com.
