Media release: Portnellan Highland Lodges announces a very merry winter offer

PORTNELLAN Highland Lodges, situated in a stunning mountainous setting in Glen Dochart by Crianlarich, has just announced a special offer with 25 per cent off all bookings over the festive period.

The offer applies to any bookings of any length of stay between now and 15th January. Plus, special discounted ski packages, festive events and Christmas food shopping services are all available at Portnellan.

Just over an hour from Glasgow, Portnellan is home to a range of quality, four and five-star luxury self-catering lodges.

The setting is a picture of perfection in the heart of the Highlands and, following the recent snow falls, it has become a winter wonderland and a dream setting for Christmas and New Year/Hogmanay breaks in Scotland.

Passionate husband and wife team, Cameron and Elaine Taylor, are also offering to do the pre-party Christmas food shop for guests.

They are working with nearby providers to bring guests the finest local poultry, exceptional Highland beef and peak-season venison, fine Scots ales and carefully-selected wines.

They will even decorate lodges with Christmas trees and festive flowers and bring in general groceries as well.

Guests can cook their food to perfection in the lodges’ fully fitted kitchens.

They pay only for the goods, all is organised and delivered free to the guest’s Highland lodge, ready for their arrival.

Keen skiers staying at Portnellan will be interested in their offer of discounted and advance purchase ski passes for Glencoe Mountain Resort which also includes transportation to and from the ski resort. The promotion runs until April 2011.

There is also a whole bundle of festive events planned at Portnellan. On Christmas Eve, mince pies and mulled wine are on offer in the Portnellan House, followed by the midnight service at 11.30pm at Bridge of Orchy Church.

On Boxing Day, Portnellan will hold its annual sledging competition for children and adults (snow permitting).

On Hogmanay, guests can enjoy the Scot’s tradition of first footing as well as a bonfire and fireworks.

On 1st January, the One Hole Golf Championship will take place, followed by soup and sandwiches in Portnellan House.

In the evening, there is the traditional dance in Killin which is a truly memorable evening.

On 2nd January, guests can take part in The Quiz where their general knowledge will be tested!

This is followed by a few drinks with Cameron and Elaine before it all comes to an end.

The cosy lodges cater for couples, families and groups and sleep from two to eight people. Each is privately situated with its own remarkable view.

Portnellan Estate is located in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in Glen Dochart, two miles from Crianlarich and 12 miles from Killin, located on the A85. The spectacular, remote highland setting is easily accessible, just one hour 15 minutes north of Glasgow and one hour 45 minutes north-west of Edinburgh by car. There is also a train station in Crianlarich linking tracks to Glasgow, Fort William and Oban with good bus links as well.
