Media release: Robin Harper MSP hails Armadilla

THE leader of the Scottish Green Party, Robin Harper MSP, has praised Scottish entrepreneur, Archie Hunter, for his eco-friendly business methods.

Archie and his son, Ross, design and produce unique, handcrafted storage and accommodation units called Armadillas – from premises in Rosewell, near Edinburgh.

The four-foot Ark is the smallest in the range and has been designed to be a multifunctional container.

It can be used in a variety of different ways – for vegetable or parcel storage, a hen house or even a dog kennel.

The largest model is 12 feet in length and could be an office, music studio or simply an extension to the home.

Each of the Armadilla family is made from material sourced from sustainably managed forests in the Scottish Borders, has a natural oil finish and a low carbon footprint.

Robin Harper said: “The Armadilla is an inspiring example of Scottish inventiveness and sustainable use of Scottish wood, with the flexibility to be used in either rural or urban locations.

He added: “It is finished to an extremely high standard, as the interior and exterior have been treated with natural oils, and is a prime example of how we can move towards a sustainable future.”
