ENGINEERING and fabrication specialist, L&N (Scotland) Ltd, has won its first contract for the South American subsea market.

Aberdeen-based L&N will manufacture 32 subsea control products on behalf of GE Vetco Gray for use in offshore Brazil subsea projects.

L&N has long-standing relationships with subsea manufacturing companies in the North Sea but it is the first time the company has been commissioned for work destined for the South American oil and gas producing regions.

L&N (Scotland) business development director, Mike McArtney, said he hoped the £250,000 contract would pave the way for similar projects in the lucrative South American hydrocarbons sector.

Mr McArtney said: “We have built up a good relationship with Vetco in the UK over recent years and are delighted this has developed to the stage where we are being invited to tender for work on their international projects.

“Brazil is predicted to be one of the fastest developing oil and gas regions in the world and we are confident our experience and technical skills gained over many years in the North Sea environment will be of interest to a number of E&P companies active in that region.”
