THE Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns has issued an open invitation to families to come and meet Newton and Fearn, its new life-sized mall mascots.

Designed to appeal to kids – and the young at heart of all ages – Newton and Fearn lend The Avenue real appeal as a destination venue for families over the weekend.

But they are also likely to be spotted out and about in Newton Mearns and surrounding areas as they have agreed to make themselves available for various community uses and educational purposes.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “A scientist, Newton knows the answers to everything – or at least he thinks so.

“As such, he’ll be involved in all sorts of initiatives, including school visits, where he can pass on some vital scraps of information and useful advice to kids.

“Fearn, meanwhile, is a rag doll with her own distinctive sense of style. A bright and creative personality – much more creative than Newton – she just loves colouring in and encouraging others to join her!”

The Avenue Shopping Centre offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
