FRESH from an extensive refurbishment, the popular 1901 bar and grill at 1534 Pollokshaws Road on Glasgow’s southside, has introduced a delicious new grill menu.

The 1901 grill now features fresh cuts of prime, 28-day matured Aberdeen Angus beef, seasoned and char-grilled for real flavour.

Cuts include: 8oz rib eye, dry aged on the bone to produce exceptional taste and tenderness; 8oz sirloin, cut is from the centre section of the short loin which consistently produces great flavour and texture; 14oz T-bone, sirloin and fillet matured on the bone;

8oz fillet, the most tender cut with little marbling and trimmed of fat and Chateaubriand, a particular thick cut from the tenderloin.

Meanwhile, grill specialities include: braised lamb shank on a spring onion mash with a rosemary and red wine jus; marinated free range chicken breast in Cajun spices served on crisp house salad; fresh sea bass fillets pan fried with a mango, lime, coriander and sun dried tomato salsa; marinated Barberry duck breast with honey, soy sauce, ginger and spring onion glaze and the 1901 roast of the day served with all the trimmings.

The new 1901 grill menu also features a mouthwatering selection of skewers, pasta, pizza and burger dishes – many of which can also be found on its new bar menu.

And diners can now tuck into a two course express lunch from Monday to Friday from 12 noon till 2.30pm for only £8.95 or a two course early evening menu from Monday to Thursday from 5pm till 7pm for the same price.

A breakfast menu, including a full Scottish breakfast served with toast and coffee or fruit Juice, is available till 2pm.

Christopher Queen, general manager at 1901, said: “Our new grill menu, introduced following significant investment in a brand new kitchen, offers diners a selection of quality dishes at sensible prices in a fresh new dining area with families welcome.”

Meanwhile, the 1901 bar continues to serve up a broad selection of premium lagers, cask ales, malts and wines.

Indeed, it was awarded a prestigious Cask Marque, an accolade recognising the quality and care of cask or ‘real’ ales, just last week. 1901 won the best individual bar/pub award in the Best Employers in Hospitality 2010.
