Media Release: Scotmid appoints J&E Shepherd to market acre of land for residential development at Harthill

INDEPENDENT Scottish co-operative, Scotmid, has appointed J&E Shepherd Chartered Surveyors to market an acre of land for residential development at Harthill, the former mining village located mid-way between Edinburgh and Glasgow just south of the M8.

The land sits between numbers 65 and 83 on the south side of West Main Street, Harthill, and has outline planning permission for four, large detached family homes on the west of the site.

David Maxwell, commercial surveyor, at J&E Shepherd said: “West Main Street is the main road route through the town, with a mix of residential and retail uses. The site currently comprises derelict land part used as a car park for the customers of the neighbouring Scotmid store, local shops and the social club to the South East of the development area.

“Whilst the site has already been granted outline planning for four residential dwellings and the creation of a public car park, initial enquires to the planning department suggest that the creation of more dense housing may be acceptable.”
