Media Release: Kevin McDermott kick-starts new year for Scottish music

New solo album ‘Wise To The Fade’ released today

Exclusive Scottish tour to celebrate the album launch

Glasgow, Scotland – January 7th 2008. Legendary Scottish songwriter and performer, Kevin McDermott, kicks off the New Year with the launch today of his much-anticipated solo album ‘Wise To The Fade’.

THE highly-acclaimed new material, which has already secured broad industry praise and has been enjoying significant radio airplay across the country including BBC Radio, Radio Clyde and Xfm, sees a return to form from one of the godfathers of the Glasgow music scene.

Drawing comparisons to music heroes such as John Lennon, Neil Finn and even ‘Bob Dylan sung by Robbie Williams but in a good way’, ‘Wise To The Fade’ reflects the artists’ unshakable belief that whilst the industry changes people’s inherent desire for great song writing does not.

From its bold opening and title track to the gorgeous September Songs, ‘Wise To The Fade’ offers wisdom and integrity wrapped up in the artists’ undeniably unique style.

To celebrate his new solo venture the artist also announced the release of a limited edition un-plugged retrospective ‘Are We Having A Good Time Yet?’ The retrospective will be exclusively available with the first 500 copies of ‘Wise To The Fade’. It features classic reinterpreted KMO material that the artist describes as offering a ‘lighter’ approach recognising and focusing on the initial inherent qualities of the songs.

“I signed up for this circus a while ago, can’t leave now and sharing new material with the fans is what it’s all about,” said Kevin McDermott, “It’s great to have the new album out there and the retrospective is just my way of saying thanks… and to see if anyone recognises the songs in just their underwear.”
