Media Release: Beanscene launches hunt for general manager, following outstanding local response to Heart of Hawick opening

THE outstanding response to last week’s opening of Beanscene as the anchor
tenant at the Heart of Hawick is already reaping rewards for the local
economy.

Indeed, the response has been such that, within a few days of
opening, Beanscene has now launched a hunt for a general manager to
oversee operations at the thriving store.

The Heart of Hawick is the new multi-agency arts and heritage initiative
central to the social, cultural and economic regeneration of Hawick and
the wider Borders which opened with the aim of creating a community asset
that not only establishes a variety of accessible cultural services, but
to create new work and training space to stimulate the local economy.

The immediate popularity of the Beanscene store means that, within days,
the Heart of Hawick is already realising its aim of job creation.

Gordon Richardson, Beanscene founder, said: “Last week’s store opening
generated an outstanding reception from the local population and the
feedback we’ve received has been exceptional.

“Accordingly, we now have an immediate need for a very focused, suitably
experienced hands-on general manager to oversee what is already a very
busy, full-on seven day operation, to help co-ordinate specialised
catering for corporate events and to direct our highly energised and
enthusiastic team on a day-to-day basis.”

Beanscene was considered by the backers of the initiative to be the
perfect anchor tenant for the heart of the campus at Tower Mill, a former
weaving mill and category A listed building built over a river, converted
into a cinema/theatre, exhibition space, visitor welcome centre, shop and
workspaces for arts and media businesses.

Said Richardson: “Beanscene’s all about providing somewhere for our
customers to sit back and listen to some chilled sounds over an espresso
and a bite to eat in their own backyard. Our blend of music and
refreshments has proven particularly popular with anyone from 25-50
looking to spend some time with friends and family; somewhere that kids
are made to feel welcome.

“What sets us apart from other coffee houses and music retailers is that
we bring our passion for music and our constant pursuit of the ultimate
caffeine kick together at each and every store. Our new general manager
will already be familiar with our vibe and ethos and share our established
brand values.”
