Media Release: High hopes for NHS Lothian at UK awards night

NHS Lothian’s staff newspaper, Connections, has been shortlisted for a top UK award.

The competition held by the British Association of Communicators in Business (CiB),
will take place tomorrow at the Newcastle Hilton, on Friday, (May 25th).

Connections is one of six finalists in the best internal newspaper category
(newspapers published up to six times a year) & will go head to head against titles
from five private sector organisations.

The judging panel have already given favourable feedback, describing the editorial
standards as “high”, and praising the editorial boards content and approach.

The editorial board is made up of 29 members of staff from across NHS Lothian who
bring different ideas to the table and ultimately make the decision on final copy
and layout.

Jenifer Stirton, director of communications, NHS Lothian said: “To be shortlisted
for such a prestigious award is a great honour, and we are all delighted.

“The articles and features for Connections are put forward by NHS Lothian staff, for
staff to read, so it really is a newspaper for NHS Lothian workers.

“The style of Connections is a tabloid-style newspaper, which is quite different
from the other competitors in our category and we hope this will be in our favour!”
