Media Release: Ross McDonald comes home to R34 at India of Inchinnan

INCHINNAN-born and bred 27 year-old, Ross McDonald’s culinary career began 11 years ago when, as a 16 year-old schoolboy, he landed a part-time job as a waiter at the prestigious Cameron House Hotel on Loch Lomond.

Now Ross’s career has brought him right back home as front of house manager at Scotland’s most exciting new restaurant, R34 at India of Inchinnan – and he’s delighted at the chance to show his hometown all he has learned about the restaurant trade in the intervening years in a successful career that has seen him work at such renowned outlets as Langs Hotel, Le Chardon D’Or, The Hallion Private Members Club, Marks Hotel and, most recently, One Devonshire Gardens.

Ross said: “When the chance to join R34 at India of Inchinnan came up, I jumped at it. Head chef John Shields’ reputation for consistently producing fine food at sensible prices is well known in the culinary trade and I’m delighted to be given a chance to work alongside him in such a stunning building.

“And it’s great to be able to return to my roots to help offer a top quality culinary experience to my hometown. In fact, I can look out from the restaurant window over to the hills I used to play on as a boy!”

Welcoming Ross to the restaurant, head chef and executive director, John Shields, said: “Ross brings a level of confidence and experience to our front of house operation at R34 at India of Inchinnan. His extensive experience is just what we are seeking to establish the restaurant as a must-visit destination for anyone with an appetite for unpretentious classic British food produced with the finest, fresh ingredients with a twist and a rustic edge.”

R34 at India of Inchinnan is located in a stunningly renovated A-grade, Art Deco building directly behind Glasgow International Airport just 15 minutes from Glasgow city centre. Named after the airship that completed the first transatlantic air crossing in both directions in 1919, the R34 was constructed on the site where the restaurant is now located.

With a diversity of rooms available for hire, all with a choice of freshly prepared catering options, R34 at India of Inchinnan can accommodate boardroom, meeting, interview and training requirements, as well as corporate events, product launches, cocktail receptions and dinners.
