Media Release: Scottish Grand National date for Saw Doctors at Ayr Racecourse

IRISH folk rockers, The Saw Doctors, are returning to the Ayrshire Suite at Ayr Racecourse on Friday 17 April, the first day of the two-day Coral Scottish Grand National Festival.

The band will play a full concert after racing exactly a year after they performed at the opening of the venue. Their latest appearance comes after a phenomenal 2008 which saw them have a number one single in Ireland, a best selling DVD and live album, two sell-out tours of the USA and a highly successful UK winter tour, not to mention two sell-out concerts in Galway to mark their 20th anniversary.

Ayr Racecourse PRO, Iain Ferguson, said: “Its great news that the Saw Doctors are playing here again in April. Last year, almost 2,000 people packed the Ayrshire Suite to watch them, and the fans were singing along from the first song.

“The Saw Doctors go hand in hand with racing – the punters love them, and we know they have a huge following in this part of the world. This will be the third time in three years they have played at the racecourse, and we are delighted to welcome them back.”

The Saw Doctors will take the stage shortly after the last race which is run at 5.40pm and play a full concert which will last for around an hour-and-a-half.
