Media Release: On your bikes for CHAS

THE Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is encouraging energetic supporters to jump on their bikes and take part in the Artemis Highland 100 cycle challenge on Saturday 12 September 2009.

The thrilling bike race is the perfect event for those seeking adventure in some of the most spectacular and historical regions of the Scottish Highlands. The event caters for competitors wishing to set personal goals as well as cyclists of all abilities wanting a fun event with plenty of entertainment for all the family.

The event has three cycle routes to choose from, Bronze (86km), Silver (105km) and Gold (132.5km).

Starting at Kenmore (Perthshire), the routes take participants on and off road to eventually finish at Killin where they will be greeted by a sumptuous feast, specialist sports massage, refreshments and entertainment for the whole family, including a fireworks display to celebrate the achievements of the day.

The event will be raising money for CHAS and Cancer Research UK.

Lindsay Whitelaw, one of the founding directors of the event sponsors, Artemis Investment Management, commented: “I would encourage all participants to get sponsored by family, friends and colleagues to help raise as much money as possible for the extremely worthy charities chosen by the Artemis Charitable Foundation.”

Roslyn Neely, CHAS director of Fundraising and Communications, added: “’We are thrilled to have been chosen as a beneficiary of the Artemis Highland 100.

“We are encouraging all our supporters to either participate on their bikes or as volunteer marshals, at what is shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic event in a truly stunning part of the world.

“All the money raised will be used carefully by CHAS to benefit families across Scotland who have a child, or children, with a life-limiting condition and for whom time together is short.”
