Media Release: Ian Rankin OBE to visit Waterstones, Perth, on book tour

MASTER crime writer, Ian Rankin, is to make a planned stop at Waterstones in St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth on Friday 11th September at 1pm to promote his new book, ‘The Complaints’.

Rankin was born in the Kingdom of Fife in 1960, and graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1982, spending three years writing novels when he was supposed to be working towards a PhD in Scottish Literature.

His first Rebus novel was published in 1987, and the Rebus books are now translated into 22 languages and are bestsellers on several continents.

A contributor to BBC2’s ‘Newsnight Review’, he also presented his own TV series, ‘Ian Rankin’s Evil Thoughts’.
He recently received the OBE for services to literature, opting to receive the prize in his home city of Edinburgh, where he lives with his partner and two sons.
Customers wishing to see Ian in person, are requested to make their way to the Waterstones store for 12.30pm on Friday 11th September. Customers who are unable to attend can reserve a signed copy in store.
