Media Release: Glencoe Ski Centre gearing up for opening

GLENCOE Ski Centre is looking for local staff who are keen to play their part in the future of the popular facility.

The new owners, headed up by snow enthusiast and business man Andy Meldrum, are eagerly awaiting enough snow to open for the season and are working with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to draw up an ambitious plan for future success.

The café has already had a facelift and general manager, Angela Dingwall, who came to work at Glencoe in 2006, says they are looking for enthusiastic local people to join the team.

“We have had such support since the new owners stepped in to secure the future of the centre.  Everyone is excited about the possibilities, and we have been overwhelmed at the support from the Glencoe Ski Club and other local volunteers who turned out a huge squad to help us get the centre ready for action again,” she said.

The centre is looking for additional seasonal staff, both qualified ski instructors and café staff.

Alison Gainsford of HIE’s Fort William office, is helping the new team look to future opportunities. She commented: “Glencoe is already well respected by winter sport enthusiasts. The team have identified a range of ideas to develop what’s on offer and are looking to increase attractions for families and in the summer months.  The ski centre is a key player in developing the outdoor sports market, both for local people and in tourism and strengthens Lochaber’s position as the ‘Outdoor Capital’ of the UK.”
