Media Release: Ayr Racecourse double bill offers racing and comedy

COMEDY comes to Ayr Racecourse on Saturday 13 March when three of Scotland’s top comedians take to the stage after racing.

The racecourse has built up a reputation for top quality after racing entertainment with many top bands having appeared over the past few years, and now, for the first time, a full comedy show is to take place on Saturday night in the Horseshoe Bar.

Top of the bill is Vladimir McTavish, a regular star of the annual Best of Scottish Comedy Showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe, and he has numerous television appearances to his credit including ‘The Empire Laughs Back’.

Known as one of the most popular and most successful modern day Scottish comedians, Vladimir is sure to be a hit with the racecourse audience.

Supporting Vladimir is Gus Tawse, described as the ‘deadpan master of mirth’, and who is equally at home on both the after-dinner and stand-up circuits.

Gus was joint second in the 2009 Scottish Comedian of the Year Competition.

Hosting the night is another stalwart of the Scottish comedy scene, Alan Anderson. Alan will keep the night flowing and also entertain the crowd with his humour and wit.

Ayr Racecourse marketing manager, Lindsey Smith, said: “We always strive to bring top quality entertainment to the Racecourse, and also look to do something different from time to time.

“A comedy night has always been something we wanted to try, and we feel we have a quality line up.”

The comedians will take to the stage at approximately 5.45 pm following the last race at 5.35 pm. For further information call 01292-264179 or go online at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk.
