Media Release: The Scottish hills are alive with the sound of a half marathon

SCOTLAND’S newest off-road run, for all levels of evolution, to set the heather alight in Lochaber.

The stunning trails of the Nevis Range near Fort William will play host to Scotland’s newest half marathon on Sunday 16 May 2010.

The Outdoor Capital Trail Half Marathon and 5k Fun Run are ideal for both trail running beginners or experienced ‘mountain goats’ keen to take in the incredible sights of the Great Glen, the Grey Corries and Ben Nevis, as the route winds through the iconic Leanachan Forest.

Organised by outdoor events experts No Fuss Events, this unique running experience will be the first chance trail runners will have to test themselves on world-famous mountain biking trails used during the Mountain Bike World Cup, World Championships and the Benromach Ten Under The Ben.

The race course will consist off a figure of eight loop utilising forestry roads and cycling and walking tracks around the Nevis Range complex, including sections of the world famous Witch’s Trail and a disused narrow gauge railway track.

Starting from Nevis Range, the 21.1 kilometre course will be run on stages of the new Cour Trail that winds its way towards Spean Bridge offering stunning views of the Grey Corries and the Great Glen throughout.

Chloe Patterson of No Fuss Events, is thrilled to be able to make such a unique event happen saying: “This is our first trail half marathon event and it’s a pleasure to introduce runners to the world of No Fuss style events. The emphasis is on a fun with friendly atmosphere for runners of all abilities. The Nevis Range is a setting we know better than anyone so entrants can expect a challenging course of stunning beauty and a warm welcome at the finish!”

The race takes place the day after the No Fuss flagship mountain biking event, Benromach 10 Under The Ben, so the hills really will be alive with the sound of music and mountain bikers who are still keen to run off some energy and keen to take part in an event without the aid of wheels.

Runners can register their £20 race fee online at www.nofussevents.co.uk . Pre race registration will take place between 17:00 and 19:00 on Saturday evening and from 07:00 at the saddlespan in the Nevis Range HQ on the Sunday morning. The Outdoor Capital Trail Half Marathon starts at 12:00.
