Time: 10.30am

Venue:  Blyde Haven Nursery, Shetland College, Gressy Loan, Lerwick, Shetland ZE1 0BB

Event:  Blyde Haven Nursery children will be holding their ScottishPower Story Swap Shop event to help the environment

CHILDREN at Blyde Haven Nursery in Lerwick are all set to get stuck in to new stories as they host the ScottishPower Story Swap Shop, a reading initiative in partnership with the Edinburgh International Book Festival and Friends of the Earth Scotland.

The youngsters will all pay 50p to take part in the event where they will be able to swap their old books for new ones.

Speaking at this year’s launch, ScottishPower Group Sponsorships Manager, Heather McDonald said:

“The ScottishPower Story Swap Shop is a fun way for youngsters to swap their old books with their classmates and raise money for environmental projects at the same time.

“We are delighted to be enabling school and nursery children to help the charity financially and are proud of our commitment to literacy and our sponsorship of the book festival. This is an ideal way to combine both and help children do their bit to save energy by switching off televisions and computers and picking up a book.”

You are invited to send a photographer/reporter to photograph the children with all their new found books at the Swap Shop. Any photographers wishing to attend, please inform Eva Swanson on 0141 333 9585 by noon on Thursday 22nd April.
