AN Aberdeenshire florist is pledging to raise £10,000 over the next year for North-east cancer support charity, CLAN.
Flowers by Booth in Cults has chosen CLAN as its charity of the year and will be making a donation to the organisation from every bouquet purchased for £25 and over.
Business owner Richard Booth and head florist Isla Duncan will also be taking part in a 10,000 ft sky dive in September this year in a bid to raise more cash for the charity. Additional support will be given later in the year when Flowers by Booth provides flowers for CLAN’s annual Christmas Cracker event.
Richard said: “All of the staff at Flowers by Booth have been affected by cancer, some through close members of the family. With this in mind, we decided that CLAN was a very appropriate and worthwhile cause to choose, particularly as they provide the kind of emotional support needed by those who are going through cancer, as well as their family and friends.
“Our donations also apply to our Interflora purchases, meaning that anyone who sends flowers through it will also be making a donation to CLAN and we also accept any donations that people wish to make when visiting our shop.”
Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said: “We are delighted that Richard and his staff at Flowers by Booth have chosen CLAN as their charity of the year. The support we receive from local businesses is fantastic and every donation is used to sustain our services and support, both at CLAN House and at our outreach centres across the North-east.”
CLAN is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
