Media Release: Edinburgh Science Triangle and iSLI to host networking event for high-tech businesses

WORKING in partnership with technology transfer institute, iSLI, the Edinburgh Science Triangle is to host a pitching and networking opportunity for companies operating in the Enabling Technologies, Energy and CleanTech sectors.

Inspired by evidence that collaborating organisations see real value from rapid pitching and networking activities as a means of supporting business growth, the two organisations have teamed up to provide a platform for business leaders to hear first hand about the technologies and innovations available from some of the most exciting firms in Scotland.

In addition to being given the opportunity to provide the audience with a 90-second elevator pitch introducing their companies, attendees will be provided with on the spot pitch training to sharpen their presentation skills.

Said iSLI director, Dr Mark Begbie: “Events like these have been proven to help entrepreneurs quickly identify business development opportunities, source business-critical expertise and develop collaborative routes to market.

|We’re keen to help companies achieve rapid growth as they look towards the future, and the primary aim of this session will be to very efficiently integrate the participants’ networks to create new opportunities for all.

“The Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus in Cheshire, which has piloted and developed a version of this event, has shown that it can help you to identify as many as five very relevant local business contacts that you didn’t know existed.”

Begins a spokesperson: “Companies supplying products and expertise at the event will give a 90-second elevator pitch covering who they are, what their business delivers, how they work and what they have to offer other firms.

“Companies from both groups are invited to pitch during the event, but may choose to attend as audience members only and participate in the informal networking session to explore opportunities with companies of interest.

“Pitching training will also be provided on the day by Jim Davidson of Speaking Expert, who specialises in improving the public speaking skills of Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders.

“In the last 25 years, he has started, owned and operated over ten businesses and now helps business leaders to become the public speakers they already think they are.”
