Media Release: Mannequins donation for cancer support charity shops

NORTH-east cancer support charity CLAN is sprucing up its charity shops’ windows after receiving a donation of five mannequins worth around £3,000.

The models were generously donated by UK department store John Lewis, which has recently completed a six month project with CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen & North).

Tania Qadir, who works in the soft furnishing department of John Lewis’ Aberdeen store, volunteered for a secondment to CLAN and used her sales skills to maximise the charity’s business in its two Aberdeen shops on Rosemount Place and Chapel Street.

CLAN senior shop manager, Anne Scaife, said: “This is a fantastic boost for CLAN’s charity stores. Mannequins are a very expensive, but necessary, tool for us when creating our shop window displays and these donations are gratefully received.

“John Lewis has been extremely generous to CLAN with the mannequin donations as well as the six month secondment, and the expertise and advice that Tania shared during her time with us was invaluable.”

Pam Calder, community liaison coordinator at John Lewis in Aberdeen, added: “As part of our revamp to our fashion floor we were replacing our display models so it was great to continue our support to CLAN by giving them five of these to use in their shops. I see they have already been placed into their Rosemount window display, which is brilliant to see.”

Each of CLAN’s charity shops depends upon a dedicated team of volunteers, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Anne on 01224 622894.

CLAN is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.
