Media Release: St. Enoch Centre shortlisted for retail excellence awards

ST. Enoch Centre has been shortlisted in the Shopping Centre of the Year category at this year’s forthcoming Scottish Retail Excellence Awards.

The prestigious awards ceremony aims to recognise exceptional achievement in the Scottish Retail Industry and the winner will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza on 19th October 2010.

The award for Shopping Centre of the Year celebrates malls and shopping centres which offer the consumer the most welcoming and accessible retail environment.

The judging panel will be looking for evidence of various criteria including increased footfall, evidence of improved business performance over the last three years and a quality customer experience through design, property management and tenant mix.

The first phase of St. Enoch Centre’s £150M transformation has seen the arrival of a host of quality retailers at the Centre alongside existing anchor stores resulting in record footfall levels and increased customer spending.

World-famous toy retailer Hamleys, vintage inspired accessory and fashion store Fossil, supermarket giant Tesco and music-inspired fashion retailer Pulp are among the new stores to set up in shop in the Centre and it has also recently been announced that one of the UK’s leading retail brands, Harvey Nichols, will open its first ‘pop up shop’ in Scotland at St. Enoch Centre.

The recent St. Enoch Working recruitment fair saw 250 vacancies at a selection of St. Enoch Centre retailers go on offer resulting in a fantastic response from jobhunters and building on the Centre’s reputation of providing employment and support for the local community.

Susan Nicol, general manager of St. Enoch Centre, said: “We are delighted to be a finalist within the Shopping Centre of the Year category and it is an honour to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.

“This has been a fantastic year for St. Enoch Centre and we’re now building upon these achievements by introducing more leading brands to the Centre and bolstering the wide variety of choice available to our shoppers.”
